Plea to supply essential items to Nilgiris tea estate workers

Tea estates in the Nilgiris are experiencing shortage of necessary merchandise for their worker family members.

Estates have shut the streets to the encompassing towns and villages and have stopped partaking non-resident employees. The authorities has permitted the estates and factories to do the job with only 50 for every cent of their workforce.

Some estates have ration retailers in their compunds for the advantage of employees and their family members. Right after the lockdown, the source of ration commodities have been delayed.

The employees, mainly migrants from Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar and Nepal, want the managements to let them to go to nearby villages and towns to obtain groceries and veggies.

To prevent them from leaving the estates, the managements are arranging for necessary commodities for the worker family members.

“Even this is resulting in challenges mainly because quite a few this kind of merchandise are not readily available in the rural locations where by plantations are found.
