ISTANBUL—Turkey’s air pressure downed two Syrian jet fighters, testing Russia’s dominance of Syrian airspace as a struggle for control of the final rebel stronghold continued in the vicinity of the Turkish border.

Syria verified that two of its aircraft ended up shot down Sunday, incorporating that both of those planes’ pilots managed to eject and parachute to basic safety. The Russian-produced Sukhoi Su-24 aircraft ended up hit higher than northwest Syria about regions held by the governing administration, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a U.K.-based mostly war watch.
