The U.S. executed airstrikes versus an Iran-backed militia group in Iraq, U.S. officials explained Thursday, coming into into a new phase of a military confrontation with Iran and its allies by retaliating for the deaths previously this 7 days of two Us citizens and a British company member.

The U.S. strikes focused five separate weapons storage facilities in Iraq connected with Kataib Hezbollah, a Shiite militia group working in Iraq that U.S. officials explained has regularly focused bases where American servicemembers are dependent.
