London Underground is gearing up for the return of thousands of Metropolis personnel by reopening of “The Drain” concerning Waterloo and Lender stations.
The Waterloo & Metropolis line, which has been shut for 14 months, will reopen on June 21, Transport for London claimed.
It issued the assertion just before Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned of “disruption” to the reopening of the overall economy in light-weight of new strains of Covid-19.
The line was opened in 1898 and became recognized for extended queues at the country’s busiest overland coach station.
It carries 15m travellers per year and is the next busiest soon after the Victoria line.
Tube bosses are to place on an further peak services to cater for bankers, legal professionals and accountants that are not able to alter their functioning hrs.
Catherine McGuinness, coverage chief for the Metropolis of London Company, claimed: “The reopening of the historic Waterloo & Metropolis line is important to the Sq. Mile’s recovery.”
Meanwhile, rail firms will include 2,five hundred extra everyday services from Sunday.
